How long have you been in business?
I have been in business in Berkeley since 1984.
What is your primary product or service?
This is a traditional artist blacksmith shop where I make a line of bronze garden lighting and sell the products nationwide.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I trained in the US National Park Service as a Carriagemaker's apprentice in Yosemite building stage coaches used to transport park visitors. I moved to build a whaling ship for a museum in Hawaii and finally returned to California to make functional art in bronze in Berkeley.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I am unique in working with bronze. I heat my metal with a fire and forge the bronze to useful shapes on an anvil with a hand hammer.
