Our mission at the Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate is not only to care for the physical estate, but to preserve the legacy of two important Bay Area families through the stories of the Dunsmuir and Hellman families. These are truly American stories. Both immigrant families worked hard and persevered to be successful in their new home. Today in the Bay Area with our diverse population, often first or second generation Americans, it is important for us to preserve this Estate and the stories as examples of what can be accomplished. The Estate is a 50 acre site that offers tours, public programs and venues for private events such as weddings, receptions and corporate events. The mansion built in 1899 is available for tours on regularly scheduled days and by appointment for groups and events.
