How long have you been in business?
Lenehan Architectural Glass, Inc. has been doing business in Oakland and Emeryville for the last 20 years as LAG. Prior to 1994 Dorothy Lenehan worked out of her studio at Jack London Square where she was an early settler in the warehouse movement.
What is your primary product or service?
We supply architectural elements to designers and architects, whether simple specialty glass or custom made fused, laminated, etched or leaded pieces.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Dorothy started working with glass in 1976 when the craft shops were offering "stained glass" classes. This very basic introduction exposed her to the possibilities of glass and from there she moved on to large architectural panels, fusing, and sandblasting. As the industry changed and architects and designers have looked to new materials and techniques Dorothy has changed the focus of the studio - always seeing the collaboration as the key to creating good work.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I have always tried to move into new and interesting products and stay abreast of the developing trends in glass.
