What is your primary product or service?
Gathering Tribes represents Indigenous artisans from Alaska to Chile. We feature art, jewelry and fine crafts handmade by Native Americans and Indigenous people of the Americas.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The owner, Pennie Opal Plant is a Native American woman of Yaqui, Choctaw and Cherokee descent. Our staff includes Chrystal White Eyes, Lakota, and Isabella Zizi, Northern Cheyenne, Arikara and Muskogee Creek.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Gathering Tribes is very active in the San Francisco Bay Area Indian community. We feature many award-winning Native American artisans at weekend events throughout the year.

Gathering Tribes is located on the corner of Solano Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue in Albany, California. Solano Avenue is a wonderful shopping district which spans both cities of Albany and Berkeley. There are many wonderful small boutique businesses on the Avenue, as well as many award-winning restaurants.
